Tween Art Club Saturdays

  • Ages: 9-12 years old
  • Dates: Saturdays, June 17, July 15, August 19, September 16, October 21, November 18, & December 16
  • Times: 1-3 pm
  • Instructor: Michelle Wilson
  • Description: Spend time experimenting with art while you socialize with your peers! A different art technique and approach each month! Take charge of your destiny- make art!
  • Cost: $10 per class; registration is required in advance, but you can pay when you arrive each club date.

Beginning Ceramics

  • Ages: 13 years old- Adult
  • Dates: Saturdays, June 10, 24, July 8, 22, & August 5
  • Times: 1-3 pm
  • Instructor: Sydney Goldman
  • Description: Hard to set aside 5 consecutive Saturdays in the summer? Let’s try something new! Traditional ceramic classes every other week! Designed for beginning and intermediate ceramic skills. Learn and work at your own pace!

Clay Collage

  • Ages: 13 years old- Adult
  • Dates: Saturdays, June 17, 15, 29, & August 12
  • Times:10 am-12 pm

  • Description:  Hard to set aside 5 consecutive Saturdays in the summer? Let’s try something different! This class will meet every other week! You will create a framed clay tile collage by making clay tiles in many shapes, sizes, and textures. Glaze them in a variety of colors and assemble them into a stunning piece of artwork.

Artful Stories

  • Ages: Adults with children ages 4-6
  • Dates: June 12-16
  • Times: 10 am- 12 pm

  • Description:  Create characters from stories using a variety of art tools! Books by authors Dr. Seuss (Cat in the Hat), Eric Carle (Brown Bear), Leo Lionni (A Color of His Own), Bill Martin (Chicka-Chica Boom-Boom), and H.A. Ray (Curious George) will provide our artistic inspiration!

My Vacation to Outer-Space

  • Description:  Use mixed media, drawing, painting, and more to create works of art about your adventures through outer-space! Whether in flight or on a far planet’s landscape, your imagination will soar!

What’s Math Got To Do With It?

  • Description:  Art and Math? Explore the many ways that art and math are connected. Create awesome tessellations, optical illusions, and other artworks using mathematics, geometry, and maybe even Pi. You will amaze yourself and impress your friends.

Gizmos

  • Description:  Craft recyclables into treasured artworks. You will discover the limitless potential of using common every-day items to create fascinating works of art!

Put Away Your Pens and Pencils

  • Description: Use unexpected and unique materials to create drawings. Develop your own solutions of communicating by drawing…without a pen or pencil!

Watercolor

Arts of Many Cultures

  • Description: Discover the arts of many cultures as you explore the creativity of people around the world. Then design your own versions using both traditional and uncommon materials.

Hand-Built Ceramics

  • Ages: 10-12

  • Description: Create sculptures and clay works using slab, pinch, coil, and other ceramic techniques. Your works will be fired in the kiln, and ready for alternative surface treatments. We will call you when they are ready!

A One-Of-A-Kind Travel Journal

  • Description: Create your personal unique journal using a variety of book making techniques, papers, drawing styles, and watercolor methods. Your journal may be a vacation memory, a diary, or a way to convey your thoughts, dreams, and possibilities.

Art Under The Sea

Workin’ On The Railroad

  • Ages: 7-9 years old

  • Description: Use trains, symbols, and ideas of travel (real or i9magined) as themes for your artwork. Draw, paint, and create sculptures as you explore your own ideas of creativity and imagination. You will visit the exhibition, Transcendental Railroad, to see what other artists imagine.

What’s that supposed to be? The Art of Abstraction

  • Description: Have you ever asked, “What’s that supposed to be?” when you look at a piece of artwork? Learn about the art of abstraction and its meaning while you create artworks that break from representational images. Unleash your imagination and try this exciting way of creating artwork.

Tiny Tea Party

  • Ages: Adults with children ages 4-6

  • Description: Make miniature tea pots, cups, plates and more from air dry clay and paper clay. On Friday, bring your favorite toy to share an imaginary tea party during the last part of class!

Fact or Fiction? The Art Of Myth

  • Ages: 7-9 years old
  • Dates: July 10-14
  • Times: 10 am- 12 pm

  • Description: Bigfoot, Yeti, and Sea Monsters: Real or Myth? Create your own images and stories of beasts and serpents commonly considered “myths”. You decide for yourself if they are “real” as you create drawings, paintings, and mixed media art expressions.

Suitcase Self-Portraits

  • Ages: 10-12 years old

  • Description: Create an assemblage sculpture using a suitcase and meaningful objects. You will paint, sculpt, draw, collage and more as you express your identity through art!

ART WINS! The Art of Games

  • Description: Craft a variety of games and create the objects and pieces you need to play them! Whether an outdoor sport or a board game, you will design your own artistic way to play!

Art of Cloth

  • Ages: 10-12 years old
  • Dates: July 10-14
  • Times: 1-3 pm
  • Instructor: Chastity Romero-Latham
  • Description: Try a variety of cloth and paper dyeing techniques…from “batik” (using glue resistance) to traditional tie-dye! Learn many ways to color your world! Please bring one white-cotton tee shirt, a light color tee shirt to “over-dye” and one white cotton dish towel. We will supply other items to dye and all the dyes you will need.

Art With Purpose: ArtLab Art Stools

  • Ages: 13 years old- Adult
  • Dates: July 10-14
  • Times: 1-3 pm
  • Instructor: Kris Oursler
  • Description: What is your favorite piece of artwork? Why is it your favorite? Discover more about your chosen work and its painter. The, you will take part of the image and reinterpret it in paint on the top of an ArtLab art stool using acrylic paint. Your artwork will remain in the ArtLab and inspire thousands of guests to learn and create art.

Affirmations: Create A Vision Board

  • Ages: 13 years old- Adult

  • Description: Create a vision board that expresses your hopes, dreams, and aspirations for your future. You will use collage materials, markers, paints, and more to envision your future through art! You are welcome to bring your own trinkets and embellishments or add them to you vision board later as you need!

Painting With Instant Coffee

  • Description: Yes you can paint using instant coffee to create sepia toned images. Come experiment with this out-of-the-ordinary art medium that is as close as your coffee pot!
