Faces of Change- Inmate Portraits by Nick Vedros

Thirty-three years ago mental health activist SuEllen Fried and Greg Musselman, an inmate with a life sentence, founded Reaching Out From Within, a program with a simple and singular goal: to transform lives.

CorneliusToday this innovative and successful prison rehabilitation program operates inside every Kansas Department of Corrections Facility for men and women and has been successfully transplanted to North Carolina. At these facilities inmates meet weekly, guided by the 400-page “Blue Book,” the curriculum that helps member rigorously examine the roots of violence and its impact on themselves and their loved ones.

MelanieFaces of Change features the powerful black and white images of acclaimed photographer Nick Vedros and captures the spirit of the Reaching Out From Within program and the courage of its members.

BrandonThis inspirational exhibit will be on display at Washburn University from February 14th through April 1st 2017. There will be a reception and announcement of awards on March 3rd from 5:30-7:30 pm.
