Desmond Egan is an internationally acclaimed poet who received an honorary doctorate from Washburn in 1998. He has published 20 books and 25 of his manuscripts have been translated to other languages. These translations range from Croatian to Chinese. Egan’s profound and moving writing transcends the barriers of culture and language. To add to his long list of achievements and awards he recently received the Irish book and Media Award from the University of Chicago. His Famine collection will be translated to French and launched at the Irish Embassy in May. Egan will read selections from his twenty-three books of poetry.
